Mahindra & Mahindra's subsidiary Classic Legends has recently re-introduced the legendary Jawa nameplate in the Indian market. The company had introduced 3 new motorcycles - Jawa Classic, Jawa Forty-Two and Jawa Perak. The company will initially offer the Classic and Forty Two, while the factory custom Perak Bobber will come on a later stage. The Jawa Classic and the Jawa Forty-Two are priced at Rs 1.64 lakh and Rs 1.55 lakh, respectively.
The Jawa Classic was initially introduced in a signature maroon paint scheme. Now, the company has started releasing the other colour options for the motorcycle. The motorcycle is now available in 3 paint schemes - Jawa Maroon, Jawa Black and Jawa Grey. Similar to the Maroon Classic, the other two variants also gets chrome accents, gold striping on the fenders, fuel tank and side panel.
The Jawa Classic is powered by a 293cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, four-valve engine with fuel-injection system. This BSVI ready engine is capable of producing 27bhp of power and 28Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the rear wheel via a 6-speed gearbox.
For braking, the Jawa Classic gets a single 280mm disc at the front with a floating caliper and a 153mm drum brake at the rear. The bike comes with a single-channel ABS system as standard. If media reports are to be believed, Jawa is also working on a dual-channel ABS equipped variants of the bike. The dual channel ABS system should further improve the braking performance of the bikes. A dual-channel ABS system avoids wheel lock on both ends and ensures safety. For suspension mechanism, the bike gets telescopic forks at the front and twin rear springs. The motorcycle also comes equipped with signature twin-sided, chrome finished exhaust pipes.
Interested buyers can pre-book the Jawa bikes through the official website by a paying an initial token amount of Rs 5,000. Dealer level bookings and customer previews will commence from December 15, 2018. The deliveries for the new motorcycles are likely to start in January 2019.
