The Jawa Perak has been launched a few days ago, priced at Rs 1.94 lakh, ex-showroom. The Perak has been a while coming, and Jawa has decided to make it a BS Vl model from the very beginning, which is why the company says it will start accepting bookings from Jan 1, 2020, and will start deliveries in April 2020.
It selected that particular month to begin deliveries as BS Vl fuel will begin to be available at that time. Jawa has also said that it will deliver bikes only in those cities where the appropriate fuel is available and will make it available at more dealers across its network as and when the fuel becomes available.
However, test rides have begun already at select dealerships, like the one in Mumbai. We’re unclear at this moment if the customer will be offered the test ride and then asked to wait until January to book it.
The Perak’s engine is a new one for the brand and offers more power and torque from more displacement compared to its existing models, the Jawa Standard and Forty Two. The Perak has a liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that displaces 334 cc. It generates 30 bhp and 31 Nm and puts it through a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch.
