- Jeep Compass Diesel Automatic to come in two trims.
- Limited Plus and Longitude trim to feature diesel auto combination.
- An AWD system might not be offered with the Jeep Compass diesel automatic.
Jeep India is all set to launch the Compass SUV in a new diesel automatic variant in the country. Earlier, it was speculated that it will only be introduced only in the Limited and Limited Plus trims but now it has been learned that it will be available in the Longitude grade as well. Jeep Compass diesel automatic will be equipped with extra comfort and convenience features than its manual counterpart.
As for features, the Longitude variant in diesel automatic trim will come loaded with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. In addition, it will also have dual-zone automatic control, cruise control and rear parking camera as features.
Jeep Compass is being offered in the most number of configurations in the segment which comprises Kia Seltos, MG Hector, Tata Harrier, Renault Captur, Nissan Kicks and Hyundai Tucson. It is being offered in 20+ different configurations of engines, transmissions and drive systems.
As spotted earlier on Indian roads, Jeep Compass diesel automatic will be powered by a BS 6 certified 2.0L Multijet II engine which will deliver top power of 170bhp and peak torque of 350Nm. The engine is linked to a 9-speed torque converter automatic transmission while there might not be an AWAD system on offer.
The inclusion of an AWD system might make engine-transmission-drivetrain layout similar to the Jeep Compass Trailhawk and could hamper its exclusivity. The pricing is expected to be on the higher side due to the introduction of the BS6 compliant diesel engine.
