FCA has confirmed that it has started the production of the Jeep Compass petrol automatic variants and the deliveries will commence post-Diwali. This version is presently being produced at the company's Ranjangaon plant. This report has been revealed and confirmed by Team-BHP.
The President and Managing Director of FCA India, Kevin Flynn, had replied to an email confirming this development. Earlier, at the launch of the car, Jeep India had launched the petrol automatic variants, Limited and Limited (O), as well. However, the deliveries of these variants have not commenced yet and the company had promised that it would start delivering the version by Diwali. Earlier, the company had initiated the deliveries of the diesel 4X2 variants first and followed it up with the 4X4 diesel variants.
Hence, since the production of the petrol AT has started, as confirmed by the company itself via email, the deliveries will commence around Diwali, just as it was promised earlier. The two variants are priced at Rs. 18.91 lakhs for the Limited variant and Rs. 19.62 lakhs for the Limited (O) variant (exclusive showroom figures in New Delhi).
The Jeep Compass Limited and Limited (O) is powered by a 1.4-litre engine which can produce a maximum power of 160 bhp at 3,750 revs per minute along with a peak torque of 250 Nm at 1,750 revs per minute. The transmission duties will be done by a 7-speed automatic transmission unit.
The Compass is also available with a 2.0-litre diesel engine which can produce a maximum power of 171 bhp at 3,750 revs per minute and a peak torque of 350 Nm at 1,750 revs per minute. Moreover, the company has even said that an automatic version of the diesel variants will also be introduced soon. However, the prospective customers will have to wait until the beginning of next year.
