Jeep India is gearing up to launch the Compass Trailhawk in Indian market by July 2018 and the American auto manufacturer has already started receiving bookings for the model. The SUV will be based on the top-spec trim and the interested customers can book it at a price of Rs. 50,000. Initially, Jeep India will launch the SUV in diesel engine option only, while a petrol powered variant could be introduced at later stage.
Jeep India has been manufacturing the Compass Trailhawk in the Ranjangaon plant of FCA for the export markets like Australia and Japan. The India-spec model too will be built alongside them. Upon launch, the Compass Trailhawk will be positioned on top of the model range, just like the international markets. The SUV will carry distinctive dual-tone body paint schemes compared to the regular model. Also, there will be unique alloy wheels, bonnet decal, underbody skid plates and new floor mats.
Power source for the Jeep Compass Trailhawk in the Indian market will be a 2.0-litre diesel engine coupled with a 9-speed automatic transmission. The engine is capable of churning out 1771 bhp of peak power. Clearly, the diesel-automatic combination makes the SUV very appealing. Also, it will come equipped with Selec-Terrain 4WD system.
There will be several other driving-aid technologies like hill descent control. Speaking about its pricing, the Jeep Compass Trailhawk is likely to come priced around Rs. 2.5 lakh premium over the regular model in Indian market. With this new variant and the iconic Trailhawk badge to be offered here, Jeep India is expecting to see greater sales number for the Compass SUV.
