The American automaker, Fait is all set to showcase their iconic Jeep brand in India at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo in February. The Cherokee and Wrangler will be the first two products to make their debut in the country, and the company seemed very confident about the launch of these vehicles. But, now it seems that the company might postpone the launch of Jeep products to third quarter 2013 due to uneven Indian economic conditions. Earlier, the company was planning to launch Jeep vehicles in mid 2014.
At the Detroit motor show the President and Chief Executive of Jeep, Michael Manley said, “What I did was take another view of Jeep during the year and felt that 2013 wasn’t the right year with those changes to launch Jeep”. According to speculations, both the vehicles won’t appear anytime sooner in Indian market. But, the company is certain to bring the SUVs to India. The Jeep officials have however said that the Jeep car will be here as soon as the market equations are in favor.
The iconic SUV manufacturer Jeep has an exciting range of SUVs including Wrangler, Cherokee and Grand Cherokee, all of which are expected to hit our shores, though buyers might have to wait for a little longer. The weakening Rupee value and fluctuating inflation rate have worked against the Jeep’s strategy, and now they are just waiting for things to get right.
Jeep's parent company Fiat is currently focusing on expanding its dealership bases and launching some mass-segment products to tap a bigger market share. The Italian automaker has plans to launch new Linea, Punto Abarth and few other cars in 2014.
