Karting has become a passion with the youth of the country and each championship event is watched by cheering crowds of youngsters. Rainy weather did not dampen the spirit of both the participants and watching crowd during the recently held ‘JK Tyre National Karting Championship’ at Mumbai. The participants did not fail the occasion and there was fierce competition for the first place during the final round between thirteen drivers who competed in for the first place. Participants from Rayo Racing Club again won the first and the second rounds in the race.
Nayan Chatterjee won the race with a record breaking time of ’29.686 seconds’, closely followed by Chittesh Mandody who came second and Ameya Bafna came third. Both Nayan and Bafna belong to the Rayo Racing Club, while Chittesh is from the Mohite Racing Club. Chittesh won the Pre Final round and was given the honor of starting from the Pole Position in the ‘final’ round. However, the most popular driver who kept the crowds on their toes was Bafna who was in the last position but managed to come to the 8th place by driving the fastest round.
The final round did not disappoint the cheering crowd. Bafna was able to move from the 8th to the 3rd position and was even in the first place for a short time. However, Chittesh and Bafna had a brief ‘contact’ and Nayan took the advantage and passed them for the first position and kept the top spot till the end of the race. There was fierce competition for the third place ‘between’ Bafna and Prasad who comes from ‘Meco Racing’ Club but finally Bafna was able to pass Prasad to take the third place. The race for the Junior category was won by Khush Maini; the second place went to Arya Gandhi and Mrinal Chatterjee came third. The youthful crowd thoroughly enjoyed and cheered the participants throughout the race.
