- JK Tyre Defence Wives Power Drive witnessed participation of 115 women drivers
- Many serving officers from the Indian Navy, Indian Army and Indian Air Force encouraged the challengers by assisting as navigators
JK Tyre organised country’s first edition of ‘JK Tyre Defence Wives Power Drive’ in Delhi. The drive witnessed all-women rallying in the National Capital Region, aiming to promote motorsport amongst women and also to commemorate the spirit of the Indian Armed Forces. The rally flagged –off from Rajpath, where 115 women (wives of Indian Armed Forces personnel) participated in the rally together.
The rally flag-off was grace by Indian Para Athlete, Padma Shri Deepa Mallik and in the presence of the President Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA), Mrs Madhulika Rawat and JK Tyre & Industries Limited, Marketing Director, Mr Vikram Malhotra.
Speaking on this, Mr Sanjay Sharma, Head – JK Motorsport, said, “We have been creating new and exciting platforms to promote motorsports among women in India for the past few years. Today’s event is yet another affirmation of our efforts in that direction. It is heartwarming to receive such great response from Indian Defence families and the wives associations to this inaugural edition. We will definitely consider making this rally an annual affair as we go forward.”
The route of this rally included many known locations of the city, culminating at Surajkund, Faridabad. The participants were further encouraged Defence personnel who were also participating as navigator in this TSD (time, speed, distance) rally. It is yet another initiative by the JK Tyre along with JK Motorsports, playing a crucial role here in showcasing the increasing power and strength of women and bringing the women in motorsports.
