Gone were the days when Indian motorcycle market lacked touring bikes, Kawasaki has recently imported Versys 650 touring motorcycle to India for homologation process that strongly indicates the launch of the same can be expected to happen very soon. The strongest competition that Kwak’s Versys will face in the middle range touring bikes segment will come from Benelli’s TNT 600 GT. Benelli recently launched their line-up in India which included India’s first middle segment tourer the TNT 600 GT. Kawasaki is also expected to launch their first cruiser motorcycle in Indian market very soon, Vulcan S will be the first cruiser offering from the Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer to India.
Both of these motorcycles the Versys 650 and the Vulcan S shares the same engine from Ninja 650 that is a a 649cc, parallel-twin, four-stroke, liquid-cooled fuel-injected engine. The engine is capable of producing a power of 68.1bhp at 8500rpm and 64 Nm of torque at 7000rpm. The Versys 650 is a younger sibling of the the Versys 1000 motorcycle. When launched Versys 650 will prove to be an amazing tourer as it features up-right riding position, tall wind screen which is height adjustable, raised handle bars and wide seat that offers great comfort for the rider. The ground clearance this bike offers is 170mm which is far more than Ninja 650. Versys utilizes dual-petal disc brakes at the front and single rotor disc at the rear. Internationally the Versys is available in Kawasaki’s iconic green, black, white and yellow however only few colors will be available for India. Verys will fall in the range of 6 lacks (ex-showroom) and will prove to be a brilliant motorcycle on Indian roads.
