Snapshot: Now the litre segment 2016 Kawasaki Ninja will be offered with a few cosmetic and mechanical upgardes

The 2016 Kawasaki Ninja 1000 will come with a few cosmetic and mechanical upgrades. Apart from new paint schemes – green/black and grey/black, 2016 Ninja will also be equipped with assist and slipper technology. For all those fellas who have no clue what an ‘Assist and Slipper Clutch’ does, it is the technology which comes into play when excessive engine breaking occurs due to intense downshifting of gears.

Whenever riders are downshifting at a high speed before taking the corners (or whenever), the rear wheel is bound to lock due to sudden drop and that is when assist and clipper clutch kicks in. It relieves the pressure on the clutch plates and allows them to slip. The clutch remains disengaged until the transmission gear matches speed of the engine; in short it doesn’t allow the rear wheel to lock and hence stabilizes the motorcycle. The assist and slipper clutch technology was introduced in the motorcycles for the first time in 1980, since then it has been used in various categories of motorcycles. Starting from the entry level motorcycles KTM Duke 390 and Kawasaki Ninja 300 to high end sport tourers like Suzuki Hayabusa, it is used in almost all categories of motorcycles offered in international market. Kawasaki’s Australian website has shown all these upgrades in 2016 Ninja 1000 and it is uncertain if European and Indian market will get these upgrades or not.
