Kia and Hyundai Tops J.D. Power Quality Annual Benchmark

Snapshot: Hyundai Group’s all 3 brands scored the best rating with a good amount of improvement from last year. Kia and Hyundai secured their position in the top 3.

Hyundai Group has gained another victory with the J.D. Power quality score. Hyundai’s all 3 brands have gained first 3 positions in the overall quality assessment test. The marks were given on the basis of problems found with the vehicles of each brand within a period of 90 days of ownership. A number of vehicles from major international players have been assessed in this test.

Hyundai’s luxury car brand Genesis has scored highest with 63 problems reported in 100 vehicles in 2019 compared to 68 problems in 2018. Kia Motors acquired the 2nd position followed by Hyundai with 70 and 71 problems respectively. Both these mass brands have improved from 2018 with a small amount.

With a good number of brands appeared for this check, there were some manufacturers which are operating in India as well. Putting them in order of top 10 in terms of score, Ford scored 4th position followed by Nissan, Lexus, Toyota, Mercedes Benz, Porsche, and Honda. Though there were some other brands as well in between them, they are not operational in India.

Among the total number of participants, 13 brands did good improvements while 18 brands failed to cope up. Brands like Fiat and Tesla were kept at a distance due to the unreasonable sample size. Mitsubishi and Volvo scored 3rd and 2nd last while Jaguar did the worst with 130 problems in 100 vehicles. The industry average of the same remained 93 problems per 100 vehicles.

Hyundai and Kia Scored highest in JD Power Quality Assessment Test

Kia is a newcomer in India and is sighting a big future here. Kia Seltos unveil has happened today and it will be putting the initial steps of the brand in the country. Being a direct rival to the very popular Hyundai Creta, both these cars are based on the same platform. With quality scores they have attained at the J.D. Power Annual Quality assessment, it is expected to bring the best in class features and quality. Kia Seltos price is expected to range between Rs. 11 Lakhs and Rs. 17 Lakhs (ex-showroom).
