After launching the massively successful Seltos in the country, Kia has now pulled up socks to introduce its second product in the market in the form of Carnival MPV. It is slated for January 2020 launch. In the latest developments, select Kia dealerships have started accepting bookings for the Carnival, though no official confirmation has been announced yet.
For the uninitiated, the Kia Carnival is a full-size MPV that is offered in 7-seat, 8-seat and 11-seat configurations globally. Albeit, for the Indian market, the plusher 7-seating configuration has been reserved.
The Carnival is quite famous for its comfort and luxury-oriented features. Speaking of which, it boasts electrically operated sliding doors which is a boon especially in tight parking spots and adds to the exclusiveness of the package.
Apart from this, it also gets UVO Connect in-car connectivity suite which is also seen on the Seltos, dual sunroofs, electrically adjustable driver seat with memory functions, triple-zone climate control, a large-sized touchscreen infotainment system and more such features which are meant to boost its comfort and convenience orientation.
The Kia Carnival measures 5,115 mm in length, 1,985 mm in width, 1,740 mm in height and has a wheelbase that spans 3,060 mm in length.
In mechanical terms, it employs a 2.2-liter four-cylinder turbocharged oil-burner which is rated to deliver 202 PS of maximum power at 3,800 rpm and 441 Nm of peak torque at around 1,750-2,750 rpm. Internationally, this unit is available with a 6-speed manual transmission unit, but in India, 8-speed automatic transmission will be offered as standard.
The Kia Carnival currently doesn’t have any direct rivals in India, save for the Toyota Innova Crysta which sits in a comparatively lower segment. When launched, the Kia Carnival will be a locally assembled CKD product with pricing ranging between INR 25-30 lakh (ex-showroom).
