Kia Motors India has started teasing the Carnival MPV ahead of its launch next month in the Indian market. The South-Korean automaker released the first teaser image of the MPV while it will be showcased in January 2020. It will be sold as a CKD unit with assembling being carried out at Kia's Ananthpur facility, Andhra Pradesh. Kia Carnival price is expected to start from Rs 30 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom).
Being projected as a premium offering for six, seven and eight occupants, Kia Carnival features will include a large touchscreen infotainment system, rear-seat entertainment with 10.1-inch screen monitors, captain seats with extendable armrests and leg rests, a couple of sunroofs, three-zone automatic climate control, power-adjustable driver's seat with memory function, etc. to name a few. The safety features are also expected to be top-notch in the form of ABS, EBD, Seatbelt reminder, dual airbags, and ISOFIX child seats.
Kia Carnival will be powered by a BS 6 certified 2.2L 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine which will develop top power of 202bhp and peak torque of 441Nm. The engine will be linked to a 6-speed auto gearbox with power transmitted to the front wheels. Although, a 6-speed manual transmission is also available in global markets.
Kia Carnival will be a potential rival to the Toyota Innova Crysta while also challenging more premium offerings such as Mercedes-Benz V-Class and Toyota Vellfire. Kia's first product Seltos has already received an overwhelming response in the Indian market.
