- Kia Carnival is a super premium MPV
- It will slot in above the Toyota Innova Crysta
- Is sized the same as the Mercedes-Benz V-Class
- It is powered by a 2.2 litre four cylinder turbo diesel engine
The Kia Carnival will be officially launched at the 2020 Auto Expo, but the one figure that every Indian customers wants answered, regardless of the product, has now been answered about the Carnival. It has an ARAI fuel efficiency rating of 13.9 kpl.
The ARAI fuel efficiency is made under standard lab testing conditions, and it is quite impossible to achieve this figure in the real world. Nevertheless, it gives us a figure that can be compared to other vehicles while looking at the spec sheet. For example, the Toyota Innova Crysta’s 2.4 litre diesel manual is rated at 15.1 kpl. The Innova Crysta automatic has a 2.8 litre four cylinder engine, and that is rated at 14.29 kpl. However, both these figures are for the BS-4 versions of the Innova, and will drop once the BS-6 versions are announced. Considering how massive the Carnival is – about the size of the Mercedes-Benz V-Class, its massive kerb weight of over two tons, coupled with the fact that it has an 8 speed torque converter automatic gearbox, that 13.9 kpl figure is a really good one.
The price of the Kia Carnival will be announced at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo in February. It will slot in slightly above the Toyota Innova Crysta, while still adhering to the Hyundai values of offering massive value and an exceptional number of features for the price.
