Priced in the range of Rs 9.69 lakhs to Rs 15.99 lakhs, Kia Seltos has commenced its first lot of deliveries.
The Kia Seltos competes with MG Hector, Hyundai Creta, Mahindra XUV500, and the Renault Captur.
Kia Seltos has sold 6,200 units in August while its immediate competitor MG Hector’s sales figures are 3,256.
With its all-India launch on 22nd August 2019, Kia Seltos has entered the competitive Indian SUV market. The official bookings for Kia Seltos had already commenced on 16th July 2019 with many dealers accepting unofficial bookings much earlier. The Company announced at the launch event that over 35,000 reservations had been received, of which, one-fifth were through the online route on Kia’s website. Kia Seltos will be adding a couple of new top-spec variants in the coming months.
The Kia Seltos is available in the following engine/gearbox options
Petrol – 1.5L with 6—speed manual and CVT
Diesel – 1.5L with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed Torque Converter
Turbo Petrol – 1.4L Direct-injection, with 6-speed manual system or 7-speed Dual Clutch automatic transmission system
Kia Seltos is available in eight variants with the 1.5L petrol and diesel versions presented in the Tech Line with the suffix HT and the 1.4L petrol version with the suffix GT.
The manufacturing of the Kia Seltos is underway at the newly-built Anantapur plant spanning 23m sq ft in area. The total investment is around Rs 7,600 Crores. This unit can produce 300,000 units annually over three years. Apart from the Indian SUV market, Kia will export to countries in Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East. Besides the Kia Seltos, the company will manufacture four new models at this plant in the coming two years.
