Kia Motors, the South Korean automaker, entered the Indian market in August 2019 with Seltos in the mid-sized SUV segment. It was launched in a price range of Rs 9.69-16.99 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi), however, regarding the pricing, the company clearly stated that it was "introductory" and the prices would be hiked again in 2020. Now, the company has announced a hike in the price of Seltos by Rs 20,000-35,000 which will be applicable from January 1, 2020.
With the new pricing in effect, Kia Seltos now comes in a range of Rs 9.89-17.34 Lakhs (ex. Showroom, Delhi). The petrol range is priced in a domain of Rs 9.89-14.09 Lakhs with an increase of Rs 20,000 for the base HTE variants and Rs 30,000 for the higher variants. The more powerful 1.4L turbo engine range is priced between Rs 13.79-17.29 Lakhs with each trim level witnessing a price hike of Rs 30,000. It is the diesel fuel trim of Seltos that gets the maximum price hike of Rs 35,000 with new prices starting from Rs 10.34 Lakhs and going as high as Rs 17.34 Lakhs.
There are absolutely no cosmetic or mechanical updates in the SUV while it will continue to be sold in a total of 18 variants. The two trim levels - GT Line and Tech Line - are retained. It has been learned that it has already crossed the 1 Lakh units booking milestone with over 45,000 units being sold since its launch in August 2019.
Kia Seltos was India's best-selling SUV in the months of October & November 2019, however, Seltos sales dropped considerably in December.
