Kia Motors will make its debut in India with its first product, Seltos. The SUV was recently revealed in India, however, Kia Seltos specifications and other details were kept under the wrap. In the run-up to the official launch which is expected in August, another bunch of details regarding the SUV have been revealed unofficially. As per new media reports, the Kia Seltos specs and dimensions have been revealed. Visually, it looks longer and wider than the Hyundai Creta, which it will go squarely against in the segment. In terms of proportions, Kia Seltos measures 4,315 mm long, 1,620 mm tall and 1,800 mm wide. While Seltos is wider and taller than Creta, it measures shorter than the rivalling model. On the other hand, Creta and Seltos have the same ground clearance at 190 mm.
The Kia Seltos interior is built on a 2,610 mm long wheelbase, which is marginally more than Creta (2,590 mm). It will offer a spacious luggage storage space of 433 litre opposed to Creta’s 405 litre. In India, Seltos will be available in two wheel sizes including 16-inch wheels that will come shod with 205/65-section tyres and a 17-inch alloy wheels mounted around 215/6-section tyres. The SUV is offered with 18-inch alloy wheels in overseas markets.
Kia Seltos will come with a BS6 engine, as revealed at the official unveiling, however, according to the new revelation, Seltos will come with a 1.5-litre Smartstream naturally aspirated petrol engine good for a maximum power of 115 PS against 144 Nm torque. In addition to this, it will also get a 1.4-litre T-GDI turbocharged engine putting out 140 PS and 242 Nm torque. The diesel version will derive power from a 1.5-litre CRDi turbocharged unit good for 115 PS along with 250 Nm torque.
There will be a manual gearbox, a CVT, a six-speed AT or a 7-speed DCT. However, it will miss out on an all-wheel-drive system. Kia Seltos interior will be packed to the gill with the segment-best 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 360-degree surround-view camera, a head-up display, auto headlamps, 8-speaker Bose sound system, rain-sensing wipers, leather upholstery and ventilated seats. As for the interior colour scheme, it will be available in two options-an all-black theme and a beige-black dual colour scheme.
While there is a lot to look up to in terms of features in the upcoming Kia Seltos, the company is also said to offer UVO Connect connectivity suite. This app will be free for the owners for the first three years of purchase. Users can operate features such as AI-based voice command, immobilization, auto collisions, safety alerts, stolen vehicle tracking, remote engine start and stop and much more. Safety kit will comprise six airbags, electronic stability control, anti-lock braking system, hill start assist, vehicle stability management, a blind spot view monitor, rear parking sensors at front and rear, etc. With launch slated in August, pre-bookings are likely to commence from July. Coming to the Kia Seltos price in India, it could start fall in the range of Rs 11 lakh to Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom).
