- 1 out of every 5 units of Seltos was booked online.
- Kia Seltos waiting period has gone up to 3-4 months.
- Kia Seltos is introduced in petrol and diesel with 16 variants.
Kia Motors India has finally launched the Seltos SUV in the country in a stellar price range of Rs 9.69-15.99 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi). However, the bigger news is that the company has already garnered close to 32,000 bookings for the SUV. The South-Korean automaker claimed that 6000+ orders were received on the first day of bookings, while the number went up to as high as 23,000 by the first week of August. Kia revealed that one-fifth of the total pre-orders have come online from its official website.
Such a high number of bookings have put the company in a real frenzy and it would now be an uphill task for it to control the rising waiting period. Kia's production facility in Anantpur, Andhra Pradesh has already rolled out 5000 units of the Seltos and has a monthly production capacity of 5,000 units. So, expect the minimum waiting period for the SUV around 3-4 months, depending upon the variant, colour and city. Although Kia officials didn't seem concerned about the waiting period and reiterated that the company will not stop accepting more bookings, owing to the heavy demand and rising waiting period. Just so you know, the recently launched MG Hector has crossed 20,000 bookings in no time and the company officials had to stall the bookings temporarily due to the rising demand and waiting period.
Kia Seltos was introduced in both petrol and diesel fuel trims with a total of 16 variants. The variants include several engine-transmission combinations for the buyers. The SUV gets the biggest infotainment system in its segment with a 10.2-inch HD touchscreen unit at the helm of affairs. Also, all the three engines introduced are BS-VI compliant right from the starting and hence, there will be no need to upgrade them before April 1, 2020, when the BS-VI emission norms come into effect in the country. Kia Seltos will take on the likes of Nissan Kicks, Hyundai Creta, MG Hector, Tata Harrier and Jeep Compass in the Indian market.
