The Kia Seltos was previewed in India in June.
It is set to launch in India on August 22, 2019.
The SUV will compete with Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier and MG Hector.
Hailing from Korea, Kia is just a few days away from starting its operations in one of the fastest and largest automotive industries in the world, India with the launch of its first model, Seltos. The SUV was exclusively previewed in the country on June 20 and pre-orders, as expected, have commenced across dealerships from July 16.
Set for its official launch on August 22, 2019, the first batch of Seltos SUV will be rolled off the production line from July 31 at its manufacturing unit in, Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. The production for the upcoming model has already started, moreover, the demo vehicles have also started reaching dealerships.

Kia’s production unit in Andhra Pradesh is built over an area of 23 million square feet, with a whopping investment of 1.1 billion USD (equates to Rs 760 crore). The facilities have a capacity of 3,00,000 units, that is likely to be achieved in the next three years. In addition to manufacturing for the Indian market, the Anatpura plant will also be utilized for fulfilling Kia’s export demand in countries like Asia, Latin America and the Middle East.
The Indian-spec Kia Seltos will be available in two petrol and a single diesel unit with a choice between a manual and an automatic gearbox. Power on the petrol variants will come from a 1.5-litre unit and a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine.
Diesel variants in the line-up will get a 1.5-litre oil burner. All the engines will adhere to the BS6 emission norms set to be implemented from April 1, 2020. The Kia Seltos price in India is estimated to fall in the bracket of Rs 11 lakh to Rs 17 lakh.
