Kia SP will be unveiled in India on June 20, 2019. The model was first showcased here at the 2018 Auto Expo and has been spotted undergoing tests in the country since then. This will Kia’s first SUV for the Indian market and reports indicate, it could carry the Trailster badge. While the SUV will be unveiled next month, it is likely to be launched later this year.
Visually, the production-spec SP SUV is likely to retain all the styling elements seen on the Kia SP Signature concept which was previewed at the 2019 Seoul Motor Show. The SP Signature concept packed 19-inch alloy wheels, small outside rear view mirrors, etc. It is expected that the production-ready model will come with 17-inch alloys instead.
At the front, expect it to get the ‘Tiger Nose’ grille and LED-equipped headlights. The contrast roof, pull-type door handles, sleek fog lamps with LED units, restyled D pillar will style the production-spec SP SUV. In addition, it is also likely to get a chunky chrome bar, sporty roof rails and reworked tail-lamps. On the inside, expect it to pack in a large touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charging, in-car WiFi and a 360-degree camera. Ambient lighting and a digital instrument cluster will also be a part of the package.

Under the hood, expect the SUV to get a 1.5-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine with a choice between a manual and an automatic gearbox. As for engines, both the units could be BS VI ready, albeit Kia could launch BS-IV engines initially. The company is reportedly working on a sportier version of the SUV that is expected to get a 1.4-litre turbo petrol unit.
