Kia is getting ready for its stint at the upcoming Auto Expo 2018, set to begin from the second week of February. Just days ahead of the biennial event, the Korean carmaker has teased an image of the SP Concept, an India-bound SUV, which will be showcased at the Auto Expo 2018. According to the company, the SP Concept will be inspired by the Indian heritage and will be pivotal in taking the company’s design philosophy in a bold and sophisticated direction.

Reports in media indicate the SP Concept will take on the likes of its native cousin Hyundai Creta in the compact SUV space. In aesthetic terms, the SP Concept will feature all-LED lights at the front as well as at the back. Flanks will be marked by a prominent waistline, and a sloping roofline will further accentuate the sharp styling. The chunky wheel arches will inject aggression, and a contrast roof will add a sporty flair to its styling.
Currently, the details on the upcoming Kia SP Concept are hazy, though reports suggest Kia could use a new platform for the model that is also likely to underpin the all-new Hyundai Creta set for launch in 2020. Akin to its Korean cousin, which will be rolled out in five and seven-seat layouts, the SP Concept could also be launched with five and seven-seat options.
Underneath, the new Kia SP Concept could use a new 1.5-litre oil burner that will be seen in the new Creta and the 1.6-litre petrol engine. Transmission choices are likely to include a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic unit which it will share with Creta. Kia SP, which is expected to be launched in 2019, will be produced at its Anantapur facility in Andhra Pradesh.
