Kia Motors India unveiled the interior sketches of its upcoming SUV model, which is based on SP-concept. Kia earlier revealed the design rendering of the model and also announced that the SP-concept based SUV will see its launch in June 2019. First showcased for the first time at the 2018 Auto Expo, Kia’s SP mid-size SUV will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, Nissan Kicks and upcoming MG Hector. The first Kia car price in India is expected to fall in a range of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

Talking about the interior, the sketches reveal the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment display with navigation placed at the centre of the dashboard and underneath the display is a display for climate control and sleek AC control buttons that seems tactile in nature and on either side of the display and dashboard AC vents. There are other controls around the automatic gear knob that also speaks of the features that the upcoming SUV will boast of, such as hill descent, ventilated front seats, drive modes with the automatic transmission. The steering wheel seems the same as seen on the Kia Sportage SUV and cruise control with +/- settings along with multimedia, volume and voice recognition controls. The instrument cluster will come with a combo of digital display between two analog dials (speedometer and tachometer).
Inside, Kia has made good use of the silver accent as well, you this silver finishing around the infotainment system, AC vents, steering wheel, centre console (on the grab bar) for sporty touch and also inside door handles. That apart, the SUV will also get ambient lighting as per occupants’ preferences.
Under the bonnet, the Kia SP based SUV will be offered in both petrol and diesel guise. Both petrol as well diesel engines will come with BS VI compliant 1.5-litre engines. Kia will offer these engines with both manual and automatic transmissions. It is also expected to come packed with a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol motor that makes 140 bhp of top power and it will come paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission with paddle shifters for a sporty feel.
