Škoda Auto India launched the Monte Carlo version of the Rapid in India at Rs 11.16 lakh and the range goes up to Rs 14.25 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Coming with a re-introduction, the new Rapid Monte Carlo edition would be offered in both petrol and diesel guise. The car will boast of distinctive black accents and an exclusive exterior body colour – Flash Red.
Commenting on the re-introduction of the new Škoda RAPID Monte Carlo, Mr. Zac Hollis, Director – Sales, Service, and Marketing, Škoda AUTO India Pvt Ltd said, “We are glad to re-introduce the Monte Carlo marque in India. It is positioned at the upper end of its segment and targets discerning customers who wants a premium experience.”
Exterior wise, the new Škoda Rapid Monte Carlo comes packed with blacked signature butterfly front grille, black glossy mirrors, projector headlights with LED DRLs, while the use of the black has been used wisely on the sides as well rear. The car will ride on newly designed dual-tone 16-inch alloy wheels, the B pillars get Monte Carlo flag badging along with glossy black finishing. You will also find black finishing on the roof foil, tailgate spoiler as well as on the diffuser.
Giving a tribute to Škoda’s Motorsport heritage, the interior of the Rapid Monte Carlo speaks of sportiness. It gets three-spoke flat-bottom steering with controls on it, perforated black leather wrapping on the gear knob with red contrasting stitching, Monte Carlo leatherette seat upholstery with grey patterned upholstery, stainless steel finished scuff plates (with 'MONTE CARLO' inscription) and foot pedals. Inside, it gets features like a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment System with SmartLink™ technology, Rain Sensing Wiper, multifunctional display, a rear parking camera and cruise control.
Mechanically, the new Škoda Rapid Monte Carlo will be offered with a 1.5L TDI diesel engine that produces 109 bhp with 250 Nm of top torque; and the petrol version will get a 1.6-litre Multi Point Injection engine that makes 103 bhp of power with 153 Nm of torque. The diesel engine gets both manual and the popular DSG automatic, delivering good fuel efficiency of 21.13 kmpl when paired with the manual gearbox and 21.72 kmpl with DSG. The petrol version delivers a mileage of 15.41 kmpl when mated to a manual transmission and 14.84 kmpl with automatic.
