Komodo Concept shows what to expect from Mahindra in Future

Autoportal.com recently carried news of developments in Mahindra’s SUV and MUV portfolio, which is all about shedding its old, boring image and ushering in a new trendy design language. The company has been working hard on developing all fronts and has injected large amounts of capital in innovative products, right from electric cars to two-wheelers.

A step in this direction is the new  Komodo Concept. Komodo’s design is a clear pointer to the new styling cues at Mahindra. It has been designed by young Makrand Patil who graduated in industrial design from IED Italy. Part of this design Patil had penned while he was studying at IED. Komodo’s design philosophy flows from the competitive needs of the Indian market whilst keeping its looks decidedly dynamic and modern. Talking about his own work, Patil says “The build of the car is big, strong, rugged and luxurious at the same time and hence perfect for the Indian terrain. The vehicle can be used anywhere from silky smooth highways to steep gradients, big drops to deep water. The focus is on off-roading abilities, a true 4x4 vehicle that the whole family can enjoy."

In the future all Mahindra designs are expected to be close to this new thought process, which is  all about ruggedness and modernity, combined with practicality. Many new designs and concepts are on the drawing board and plans include a new MUV and SUV design in the below Rs. 10 lakh bracket. A new design is also being worked upon to modernize the company’s workhorse, the Bolero.
