At the Indian launch event of the KTM RC series, the RC390 and RC200, Mr. Stefan Pierer, CEO, KTM, said that the brand was working towards offering an adventure model in India. Further, Mr. Pierer added that the bike would be introduced through the CKD route hinting that the company was targeting an aggressive price tag.
KTM’s Duke and RC series are already doing well in the Indian market premium motorcycle segment; meanwhile KTM is planning to launch 1190 Adventure R in India. One of the KTM 1190 Adventure R was spotted at an Indian dealership and it is a clear indication that the same will be launched in India very soon.
The engine powering KTM 1190 Adventure R is an 1195cc, liquid-cooled, V-twin engine that churns out 149.5 BHP of power and 125 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed transmission. The weight of the bike is 230 kgs (kerb). KTM 1190 Adventure R comes with ABS as standard. KTM 1190 Adventure R Will go head to head against recently launched Triumph Tiger XCx in the country that is powered by an 800cc engine and is priced at INR 10.5 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The front shocks in the Adventure are the WP suspension system while the rear is a mono-shock. KTM is known for pricing its motorcycles very well in the Indian motorcycle segment, and so this bike can be expected to fall under the price range of INR 10 to 12 lakhs.
