KTM has finally launched the long-awaited 125 Duke ABS in the Indian two-wheeler market. It is the brand's most affordable and smallest motorcycle in India. The KTM 125 Duke has been launched at an introductory price of Rs 1.18 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), which means the prices could go up in near future. Featuring ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) as standard, the new 125 Duke will be available across 450 exclusive KTM dealerships in India.
Commenting on the launch of Duke 125, Amit Nandi, President (Probiking) at Bajaj Auto Ltd. said “KTMs are always about high performance, edgy design and a thrilling ride. The 125 Duke will be the new stepping stone into the KTM brand for riders starting out in the world of racing”
Built on the trellis frame, the motorcycle features a host of premium equipment including aluminium swingarm. The bike gets several segment-leading features such as upside down front forks and Anti-Lock Braking System as standard. The KTM 125 Duke is powered by a 124.7cc, single-cylinder engine that churns out 14.5bhp of power at 9,000rpm and 11.8Nm of torque at 8,000rpm. A six-speed gearbox driving the power to the rear wheel is available as standard. Suspension mechanism of the bike comprises of 43mm upside down front forks and a 10-step adjustable monoshock at the rear. For braking, the bike gets 300mm disc at the front and 230mm disc at the rear. The braking is further improved by ABS system.
The 125 Duke looks largely similar to the bigger Duke 200, though it features redesigned graphics. The motorcycle is not having a direct rival and is currently the most powerful and premium 125cc motorcycle on sale in India. In terms of pricing, the KTM 125 Duke compete the likes of Yamaha R15 V3.0, TVS Apache RTR 200 4V and the Bajaj Pulsar NS200. KTM has a rich legacy in the world of racing spanning 65 years and over 295 World Championship titles and every KTM motorcycle is imbued with the best and the latest from the racetrack.
