KTM India has announced the launch of 790 Duke on September 23, 2019, in the country. Having had its world premiere at the EICMA 2017, the KTM 790 Duke will be retailed via CKR route with local production taking place at Bajaj Auto's Chakan facility in Pune. Recently, the motorcycle was also spotted at a dealership, which triggered the speculations that it could finally be launched in the Indian market. The naked motorcycle will feature dual-channel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) as standard while the braking duties will be helmed by a twin 320mm disc brake at the front and a 240mm single disc brake at the rear. As for suspension, it will boast of a 43mm open cartridge fork at the front from WP and a 12 stage preload-adjustable gas-assisted monoshock absorbers at the rear. Other salient features of the Duke 790 will include full TFT display, Bosch Cornering ABS with Supermoto mode, lean-angle-sensing traction control, launch control, and a bi-directional quick shifter. It will also come with four riding modes: Sport, Street, Rain, and Track. Weighing merely 174 kgs, KTM Duke 790 is one of the lightest bikes in its segment.
The middle-weight naked motorcycle will be powered by a 799cc liquid-cooled, parallel-twin petrol engine which will belt out 103bhp at 9500rpm and 86Nm at 8000rpm. The engine will be linked to a 6-speed transmission, while a slipper clutch will also be a part of standard fitment. It will rival the likes of Suzuki GSX-S750, Kawasaki Z900, Triumph Street Triple S and the Ducati Monster 821 which are priced at Rs 7.46 Lakhs, Rs 7.69 Lakhs, Rs 9.19 Lakhs and Rs 10.99 Lakhs, respectively, in the Indian market.
