Indonesia is set to receive the KTM marvel of a bike the RC390 in early 2015. Though, not be locally manufactured like its main rival, the KTM might well be priced almost twice than that of the Yamaha R25. Massive difference in price is because PT Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing produces R25 locally and PT KTM Moto Indonesia imports RC 390 from India, where it is exclusively made. Indian and Indonesian versions of the Austrian sport bike are identical mechanically and cosmetically. Expect the pricing to be around Rp 110 million (Rs. 5.59 lakhs) which is about twice as that of its rival, Yamaha R25 (Rp 53 million or Rs. 2.69 lakhs)
KTM RC 390 is powered by single cylinder 373 cc liquid cooled engine, capable of producing 43 hp max power and 35 Nm peak torque, mated to 6-speed gearbox. Highlights include twin projector headlamps, LED DRLs, multifunction digital instrument cluster, front and rear disc brakes with ABS and underbelly exhaust.
Marketing Director of PT KTM Moto Indonesia said, the market favours sport bikes and RC 390 will be grabbed with great enthusiasm given that it is from an anti-mainstream brand. KTM RC 390 in the archipelago will also have Kawasaki Ninja 250 and Honda CBR 250R to compete with. Honda CBR 300R is expected to launch in Indonesia soon, which will likely co-exist with the 250R.
