It seems that we will have to wait a little bit more until Lamborghini will chop off the Huracan’s roof to create a roadster version as the open-top supercar will not be shown before the end of this year. It is now scheduled to make its first public appearance in March 2016 at the Geneva Motor Show, but most likely Lamborghini will unveils the car online in January or February.
It’s not that hard to imagine how the Huracan Roadster will look like as most of the body will be carried over from the coupe, but obviously with a different roof as the new version will lose the fixed aluminum roof in favor of an electrically retractable soft top as it’s unlikely Lamborghini’s engineers will implement a hard top since this adds weight and complexity.
The Huracan Roadster will get the coupe’s 5.2-liter V10 naturally aspirated engine pushing out an impressive 610 bhp and 560 Nm of torque channeled to both axles via a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The coupe needs 3.2 seconds to run the 0-100 kmph sprint, but the roadster will likely be a tad slower due to a slightly heavier body so expect the task to be completed in 3.3 or 3.4 seconds while the top speed will probably decrease a bit compared to the coupe’s 325 kmph.
The Roadster version will be just one of the many new Huracan versions to come in the following years as Lamborghini previously said they plan an expanded range which could include a more hardcore rear-wheel drive model that will likely be offered as a limited edition. Needless to say, later during the car’s lifecycle there will be a hot Superleggera version set to be offered in both coupe and roadster flavors.
Last but not least, it should be specified the Lamborghini Huracan Roadster will be more expensive than the coupe which in our country begins at 3.43 Cr.
