Lamborghini’s long awaited successor to its most successful model, the Gallardo was revealed for the first time at the 2014 Geneva Auto Show and its called, the Lamborghini Huracan. Pronounced ‘Ooh-ra-cahn’, it is the Spanish word for ‘Hurricane’. But the Huracan is named not for wind. Instead, say Lambo, for a fearless bull that fought in Alicante in 1879. And this brand new supercar from the Italian marquee is headed to India this September.

Here’s what you need to know about the son of Gallardo: Powered by a massive 5.2-litre V10, four-wheel drive engine that puts out 605PS of max power and 560Nm of peak torque. The 0 to 100 kmph feat is reached in mere 3.2 seconds with a top speed of over 325 kmph.

The chassis is made from a combination of aluminium and carbon fibre giving the car excellent driving dynamics, which are further enhanced by the LDS steering system and MagneRide electromagnetic dampers. The transmission is a 7-Speed dual clutch (LDF) gearbox with variable drive select. The new engine also features start-stop technology, which gives it a fuel efficiency of 8 kmpl with emissions of 250g/km. Three driving modes will be available: Strada, Sport and Corsa.

As for the visuals, well, you don’t need us to help you there. Just look at it! Like every other Lambo, the Hurancan exhumes the typical Italian lunacy. The Italian marquee is also said to providing customers with an option of a transparent engine cover. The Huracan will be offered in a choice of 17 colour options - seven of which, are new.

Ever since its Geneva reveal, the Huracan has gathered over 1,000 bookings in less than two months worldwide. In the Indian market, Lamborghini sold a total of 22 vehicles - which, translates to a growth of 29 per cent when compared to the sales clocked in previous year.

While the official pricing is not out yet, we reckon the supercar should command around Rs 3.5 crore, ex-showroom, India. It will rival the likes of Audi R8, McLaren 650S and the Ferrari 458 Italia.
