The wait is almost over as Lamborghini will finally introduce the Aventador Superveloce Roadster on Friday at a special event organized during this year’s edition of “"The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering". Limited to just 500 units, the open-top version will be even more exclusive than the coupe which is going to be built in 600 examples, all of which have already been pre-sold to anxious buyers with very deep pockets.
Even though it will adopt a more complex roof mechanism that will increase weight, we expect the SV Roadster to provide roughly the same performances as the coupe which completes the 0-100 kmph task in a mere 2.8 seconds and tops out at more than 350 kmph. Needless to say, power will come from the same V12 naturally aspirated 6.5-liter engine generating a whopping 750 bhp and a maximum torque of 690 Nm.
There’s no word just yet regarding the price tag, but it will surely be more expensive than the coupe which was sold out in about three months after making its public debut. Despite being pricier, the Lamborghini Aventador Superveloce Roadster will probably reach sold out status very fast, especially since it will be the quickest and most powerful open-top production model to wear the Lamborghini badge.
There are some rumors indicating the company from Sant’Agata Bolognese will also show an ultra-exclusive Aventador-based HyperVeloce. It will apparently be limited to only 30 units, with 20 of them being coupes while the other 10 will take the shape of a roadster. The limited-run model will use an evolution of the same V12 6.5-liter engine which in this application is bound to unleash no less than 800 bhp, thus making it the most powerful Lamborghini model ever made. If the report is valid, expect the HyperVeloce to be as expensive as other ultra-limited models such as the Veneno.
