From time to time, Lamborghini decides to spice up its range even further by launching ultra-exclusive special editions available in limited numbers. Recent examples include the Veneno and its roadster derivative and now it seems another interesting model is just about to go official. Billed “HyperVeloce”, the mysterious model is allegedly heading to the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance later this month and it will apparently be an uprated version of the Aventador supercar.
The model will utilize the same naturally aspirated V12 6.5-liter engine but it will be upgraded to no less than 800 bhp, up by 50 bhp compared to the Aventador upon which the limited-run model will be based. It will be offered both as a coupe and as a roadster, but it’s not known at this point whether the two will be revealed at the same time or Lamborghini will show the coupe first and shortly after that the open-top derivative.
If we were to rely on a previous report, only 30 units will ever be made, with 20 cars being coupes and the remaining 10 roadster. Chances are that both models will also be showcased in mid-September at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. We won’t be too surprised if Lamborghini has already pre-sold these cars as usually when special editions come out, automakers contact existing high-end customers and ask them whether they would like to acquire the newest product.
There’s no word about pricing, but obviously the HyperVeloce will be one of the most expensive cars ever taking into account the aforementioned Veneno was available at a pre-tax starting price of $4.5 million (288 million INR).
Since Pebble Beach will kick off in less than two weeks, we won’t be too surprised if Lamborghini will show us the HyperVeloce in the coming days. It should be a tad quicker than the Aventador SuperVeloce which runs the 0-100 kmph sprint in 2.8 seconds and tops out at more than 350 kmph.
