Lamborghini, the Italian supercar marque, has launched the Urus SUV at a staggering price of Rs. 3 Crore (Ex. Showroom) in the country. Underpinning the MLB Evo architecture similar to the other Volkswagen Group SUVs like the Bentley Bentayga, Porsche Cayenne and Audi Q7, it is being hailed as the fastest production SUV on the planet. The company has set a target of doubling its annual sales to 7000 units with the launch of Urus.

The Urus measures over 5 meters in length, while the kerb weight is around 2200 kgs due to extensive use of aluminum in its construction. The boot capacity of the SUV stands at 616 litres. Being based on Lamborghini's first SUV, the LM002, it has been introduced in India within one month of its global debut. The exterior styling depicts traditional design language of the company. The interior cabin is similar to other Lamborghini models such as Huracan and Aventador. The cabin boasts of a jet fighter-styled engine start button, customisable TFT screen, 12-way adjustable front seats and touchscreen infotainment system as standard features. Also on offer are the 440mm carbon-ceramic disc brakes up front - biggest for any production SUV till date.

Mechanically, Lamborghini Urus is powered by a 4.0L V8 twin-turbo engine which belts out top power of 650bhp and peak torque of 850Nm. The engine is linked to an 8-speed automatic transmission, which transmits the power to all the four wheels via the permanent four-wheel-drive system with a 40:60 front-rear split. The SUV touches the 100kmph mark from standstill in merely 3.6 seconds, while clocking a top speed of 305kmph. The Urus gets six driving modes: Strada, Sport, Corsa, Neve (snow), Terra (off-road) and Sabbia (sand). Besides the aforementioned six modes, there is a fully customisable 'Ego' drive mode as well. In addition, active torque vectoring, rear-wheel-steering system and adaptive air suspension are also available as standard features.
