Jaguar Land Rover India has announced that the yet-to-be-launched Discovery Sport SUV has secured 200 pre-orders in the country. Just so you know, the British luxury marquee would launch the Discovery Sport on September 2, 2015 in India. The SUV can be booked at all company authorized dealerships by paying Rs. 5 Lakhs. Land Rover Discovery Sport would replace the ageing Freelander 2 SUV in the country, while being available in diesel fuel trim.
Rohit Suri, President, Jaguar Land Rover India Ltd. (JLRIL), said: “We are very excited that Land Rover’s most versatile premium SUV, ‘Discovery Sport’ has received such an overwhelming response from our distinguished and discerning customers in India. We thank them for their spirited response and reposing their trust once again in the iconic Land Rover brand.” For those asking, unlike its rivals, the Discovery Sport would come with a 7-seat configuration. As for features, it would get new InControl touchscreen system, leather seats with electric adjustment for the front row, panaromic sunroof, bi-xenon headlamps and dual-zone climate control.
Mechanically, Land Rover Discovery Sport would be available in diesel guise in two power trims. The SUV would be powered by the 2.2L SD4 diesel engine, which would deliver power in two trims: 147bhp and 187bhp. The engine would be paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. The Discovery Sport would have Land Rover's Terrain Response 4WD system as standard which would transmit the power to all the four wheels of the SUV. For your information, the company's newly-developed 2.0L, 4-cylinder Ingenium diesel engines would be available with the SUV from 2016. It would be retailed as CKD vehicle and the production has started at JLR India's Pune plant. Expect the pricing to start from Rs. 50 Lakhs and go as high as Rs. 65 Lakhs (Both prices are Ex.
