Jaguar Land Rover India has finally launched the much-anticipated Discovery Sport at a starting price of Rs. 46.10 Lakhs (Ex-showroom Mumbai, Pre Octroi) in the country. Land Rover Discovery Sport has been presented in four trim levels: S, SE, HSE and HSE Luxury. The British luxury marquee recently revealed that it had registered over 200 orders for the new Discovery Sport, even prior to its launch in India. Just so you know, Land Rover Discovery Sport would rival the likes of BMW X3, Audi Q5 and Volvo XC60.
The Discovery Sport is bigger in length and boasts of a larger wheelbase than the Range Rover Evoque. It gets several premium features as standard such as 7-inch alloy wheels with full size spare, Cloth seats, 6-speaker audio system, 6 airbags, Hill Descent Control (HDC), Roll Stability Control (RSC) and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and Electrically adjustable and heated wing mirrors. With ground clearance of 212mm and water wading capacity of 600mm, it is available in both 5-seater as well as 7-seater configuration. The company is offering 5 seats and full size spare as standard, while 5+2 seating (with space saver spare wheel) is optional. New Discovery Sport would be available in seven paint schemes: Fuji White, Indus Silver, Scotia Grey, Firenze Red, Aintree Green, Loire Blue & Santorini Black.
Mechanically, Land Rover Discovery Sport would be powered by a 2.2L SD4 diesel engine, which would generate power in two tunes: 147bhp and 187bhp. The peak torque performance would be 400Nm for the former, while the latter would have 420Nm. The engine would be linked to a 9-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The Discovery Sport does a 0-100kmph sprint in just 8.2 seconds. Also, Terrain Response System is offered as a standard feature across the entire variant range.
