British marquee Land Rover is about to pull the plug on the Freelander 2, in order to make room for the all-new 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport. But before that, the Land Rover wants to make sure that the Freelander 2 gets the farewell it deserves. The company has announced a new range-topping Freelander 2 Metropolis trim for the outgoing model that will be presented at the on-coming Royal Windsor Horse Show and will go on sale in the European markets in June 2014.
The range-topping trim level Metropolis is based on the HSE Lux trim level, but has been fitted with a number of additional goodies such as a panoramic roof, Windsor leather seats and a Meridian audio system. The model also gets additional standard features such as 19-inch alloys, reversing camera, touchscreen satellite navigation system, better carpets, glossy black cabin trim and a new metallic exterior paint.
The Land Rover Discovery Sport on the other hand, is slated to get its first public debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show in October 2014 and is expected to go on sale in the international markets in 2015. It is being tagged as an “all-new premium compact SUV” that has been derived from the Discovery Vision Concept, which was first seen at the 2014 New York Motor Show.
