After months of speculations and rumours it is being reported in various media outlets that Mahindra finally will be bringing a 125cc engine to the Indian scooter market when it launches the Gusto 125 on January 12th, 2016. The engine is said to be a bored out unit of the current Gusto's 110cc unit, called M-TEC engine.
The Gusto 125 is expected to produce power figures around 10Ps and 10Nm as compared to the Gusto's 110cc unit that produces power of 8Ps@7500rpm and 9Nm of peak torque at 5500rpm. When launched the scooterette will compete against the likes of Honda Activa 125 and the Suzuki Access 125.
Expect the Gusto 125 to arrive with a slightly different styling and design to differentiate itself from its lower capacity sibling. However, it would be safe to assume that the new 125cc Gusto will come with feature listings as same as the current 110cc Gusto.
When launched the Gusto will be Mahindra Two Wheelers second in-house developed scooter and should add to the increasing acceptance of the resurgent Mahindra two wheeler effort.
