Cars now come in three options, petrol engine, as well as diesel or CNG engines. Maruti manufacturers are now making car models with three options. ‘Maruti Suzuki India’ are planning to introduce a new model into the Indian car market, ‘Ertiqa CNG’. It is well known fact that prices of diesel are rising and very soon will come on par with the petrol prices. The sale of cars with diesel engine are declining, this includes the sale of ‘Swift’ and ‘Ertiga’ as well. The sales figures of ‘Maruti Suzuki India’ also dropped by fourteen point four percent. The compnay is now planning to bring into the market a new car ‘Ertiga CNG’ which will have an engine which uses CNG. Maruti hopes that with the introduction of this new model their sales improve substantially.
It is reported by the newspapers that Maruti plans to put in CNG engines in ‘Lxi & Vxi trims’; however, it will not be fitted for the time being in their ‘Zxi’ model. The car with CNG engine will be more expensive then the other two models, Rupees thirty thousand will be added to the price for CNG car.
The economic slow down, rising prices of petrol and diesel and sluggish market makes prospective customers to save their spare cash and avoid buying expensive capital products, like cars. However, the management of the Maruti decided to give prospective customer another incentive to buy their models by offering them CNG option along with the petrol and diesel options. With the rising petrol and diesel prices the car owners are in search for models which run on cheaper fuel, and CNG is much cheaper then petrol or diesel. ‘SX4’ model is the first car manufactured by ‘Maruti Suzuki India’ which comes with three options. ‘Ertiqa’ is the second model which is going to come with three options in the market. With introduction of this new model it is hoped that Maruti will improve its sales.
