The Japanese motorcycle maker, Kawasaki is all set to launch their third bike in the 650cc category today. The Versys 650 will be launched today and we expect it to be priced somewhere between INR 5.5 to 6.5 Lakh. The bike is already up on the bike maker’s official webpage, Kawasaki-India.com. It propels the same power-mill from the Ninja 650 and ER6n which is a 649cc Liquid-cooled, 4-stroke Parallel Twin engine. The engine churns out 68bhp of maximum power at 8,500rpm and 64Nm of peak torque at 7,000rpm. It is equipped with long-travel 41 mm front forks with stiff springs that keys the control of the bike’s front-rear weight transfer.
It also features a large wind-screen upfront that can be adjusted up to 60mm without any tools. It is equipped with 120/70 tyre upfront and 160/60 tyre at the rear. It's 170mm ground clearance makes it a versatile bike ready to be taken anywhere without scrubbing the rear panels. Though there are no direct competitors to the bike as of now, but considering the price it will be launched at, it will compete with the likes of Benelli TNT 600GT and Triumph Tiger 800 range (which is way costly than the Versys).
