The Volkswagen groups has decided to launch the all new Polo GT 1.2 TSI in India as a replacement for the 1.6 litre Polo variant which was rolled out in 2012. This is going to be the most powerful cars amongst its rivals. The 1.2 litres petrol motor has a capability of producing 105 bhp, which is nearly equal to the power produced by the 1.6 litre engine. This is achieved by the direct injection model and the turbo charged petrol engine. The car would have a 7 speed dual clutch gear box. The car has a top speed of 190 kmph and can reach the speed of 100 kmph from standstill at 9.7 seconds.
The car is a treat for performance enthusiasts and also expected to cost less than the 1.6 variant of Polo. The 1.6 variant had been subjected to heavier excise duty due to the bigger size of the engine. Now the 1.2 litre engine falls under a lesser tax bracket. So the car is expected to be priced lesser than 1.6 variant and nearly Rs. 80,000 to 1,00,000 more than the normal 1.2 litre Volkswagen cars. The price may fall around 6 to 6.5 lakhs in Indian money.
There is not much changes made to either the exterior or interior of the car. The exterior has been added with some badges to showcase the TSI tech and the GT model in the boot lid and the front grille. The car would be available in red black and white colours. In the interior a white stitch on the seats, hand brake and the gear knobs are expected. There will also be aluminium covers for the foot pedals. Rear spoilers, chrome exhaust tips, side, front and rear skirts are also expected in the car. A body kit similar to the Polo SR is also expected in the car ready for its launch.
