The luxury car manufacturers, ‘Aston Martin’ entered a number of vehicle in the Le Mans race held this year. They hoped to win the race in ‘GTE Pro class’ in the twenty four hours race held at Le Mans. The model ‘Vantage GTE’ came third in the race. However, ‘Allan Simonsen’ who was driving vehicle No 97 had a serious accident at the beginning and succumbed to his injuries. Aston Martin dedicated their win to Allan. The ‘Chairman’ of the car manufacturer explained that the family members of Allan wished that the team should continue the race. It was a decision which was very hard but the team continued the race under difficult condition. For sometime Aston Martin cars led the race but they were defeated by the rain and had to be satisfied with the third position. He send his condolences to Allen’s family and praised the courage and driving skills of the fallen driver and said that the entire team is sadden by tragic end of their colleague and praised each member of the team who were able to complete their work calmly.
During the race car number ninety nine took the lead. Unfortunately, because of heavy rain and wet track the car driven by, ‘Frederic Makowiecki’ from France went into ‘spin’ and hit the ‘barrier’. Though the Aston Martin vehicles tried their best and reached the first place again and again but finally hampered by the rain they fell back and took the third place. The drivers said their first thought were with Allan’s family and they praised driving skills of their colleague. The executives said that they have learned some lessons from this race which they are likely to going apply in the future. They also said that team acted in very professional and competitive manner throughout the period. They said that the fact that their team came third despite their troubles is a fitting tribute to Allan Simonsen.
