In 2011, TVS had expressed its interest to have a manufacturing plant in West Bengal to cater to its Eastern market where TVS sells almost 20,000 two-wheelers per month. The proposed site was Uluberia where TVS was supposed to use 45 acres of a 63 acre piece of land which is owned by Mahabharat Motors. The issue reported is demerging of Mahabharat Motors.

"There are some legal issues which need to be resolved before we can move ahead," J S Srinivasan, TVS Vice-President - Sales said.
