Lewis Hamilton is the 2014 F1 World Champion!

Snapshot: This is the second championship win for Hamilton, who earlier won the championship in 2008.

And when it mattered the most, Nico Rosberg's car suffered a technical snag, giving Lewis Hamilton the way to become the champion, F1 world champion 2014! The season finale at Abu Dhabi was looked upon as an intense thriller, where two team-mates will fight hard, to achieve the best result of their life, but nothing of that sort happened, and Hamilton got hands on an easy win.

It was all going good for the fans till the first 23 laps, as Rosberg and Hamilton were going neck-on-neck, separated by more than two seconds, but the race turned dramatically on Lap 24 as the Rosberg's car began to slow as he lost ERS and then other systems began to fail. He tried his best to stay in the top five, crucial for his title chances, but he gradually slipped out of contention, finishing 14th in the table.

Fellipe Massa of Williams', replaced the German, after his technical issues, and drove hard for the final 12 laps. While he was successful in slashing the gap initially, with a handful of laps to go, his supersoft tyres started losing grip, finishing 2.5 seconds behind the winner. It was the day for Williams, as they clinched the double podium, after Bottas finished third, a success since 2005, finishing third at the constructors' championship.

It was all not too good for the Red Bull's, after they were kept out of the qualifying, failing the technical regulations. But Daniel Ricciardo drove a brilliant race for Red Bull and finished fourth, followed by Jenson Button, who drove another blinder to take fifth for McLaren ahead of Nico Hulkenberg's Force India. Sergio Perez gave Force India a strong finale, by finishing at seventh, ahead of Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel - who like Ricciardo started from the pit lane - in a fight for seventh.

Both the Ferraris managed to keep themselves in the top 10 positions with Alonso at ninth and Kimi at tenth. This is the second championship win for Hamilton, who earlier won the championship in 2008. In all, he won 11 races out of 19 races in 2014, to win the championship. On the drivers standing, Lewis Hamilton was followed by Nico Rosberg at the second place and at the third spot.

"2007 was a very bad experience losing the world championship in the last race," Hamilton said. "I fell to a low over which I had no control. In 2008 I came back and won the championship but Felipe here won the race and won the championship for a few seconds, before I got it back in the last corner. So I lost it and won it and, while that was great, my emotions were shot. I wasn't so mature, I didn't have the knowledge I have now."

"Last night I kept thinking that tomorrow is the big date, something could happen to the car and that would be the championship done. Naturally you think of all the negative things that could happen but I tried really hard bring all the positives into it, and I brought into the race and looked after the car. It helped when Nico's car was not performing, and when he fell out of the points I knew I could fight Felipe."

"Today was the greatest race of my life." Hamilton said signing off excited!
