Lewis Hamilton is back in style and he secured his 64th career victory at Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona on Sunday. With his dominant performance at the Spanish GP, Lewis Hamilton helped his team Mercedes to be at the top of the Formula One table again after Ferrari dominated the table most of the early season. This was the first one-two of the season for Mercedes after struggling to keep pace with Ferrari.
With this victory, Lewis Hamilton is 27 win away from breaking seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher’s record of 91 victories. Two weeks ago, Hamilton won in Azerbaijan, but that came mostly because of the incidents involving his competitors, where Valtteri Bottas suffered from a blown tyre, Sebastian Vettel made mistake and there was a crash between Daniel Ricciardo and Verstappen.
Interestingly, with this latest victory Lewis Hamilton became the first Formula One driver to finish in the points in 30 consecutive races. After the race he said, “This weekend we got ourlselves on the right path.” He also hoped that the win at Spanish Grand Prix is going to be a part of his team’s turning story in the season.
In the race at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Lewis Hamilton had a clean start, while his close competitor Sebastian Vettel moved from third to second by passing Bottas. Hamilton pulled away early and comfortably controlled the speed of the racen through the end. He finished more than 20 second ahead of his teammate.
