Lexus, the luxury vehicle arm of Japanese automaker Toyota, is all set to launch the BS 6 certified ES sedan in the Indian market. The company will retail the 300h variant with a BS 6 compliant engine.
Currently, with the BS 4 engine, Lexus ES 300h comes at a price of Rs 59.95 Lakhs (Ex. showroom) and the transition to BS 6 might make it a bit pricier.
The word is that Lexus has already imported the BS 6 ES 300h in India. It flaunts a sharp front fascia with the signature spindle grille. The styling takes inspiration from the LC coupe and LS flagship. The rear end gets wraparound LED taillamps in a distinctive three-dimensional, L- shaped design.
Underpinning the company's Global Architecture – K (GA-K), it is equipped with 10 airbags, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brake Force Distribution), Vehicle Stability Control, Hill Start Assist, Tyre Inflation Pressure Warning with Auto Location, etc. as standard safety features.
Mechanically, Lexus ES 300h BS 6 will have the 2.5L 4-cylinder petrol motor with the Lexus Hybrid Drive System. The engine will develop a top power of 175bhp while the combined power output will be 214bhp at 5700rpm. The sedan will deliver a peak torque performance of 221Nm between 3600-5200rpm. This setup will be married to an E-CVT (Electronic - Continuously Variable Transmission).
The sedan will do a 0-100kmph sprint in merely 8.5 seconds while clocking a top speed of 180kmph. Meanwhile, in other news, Lexus has started bookings for the LC and it is expected to launch shortly.
