The Japanese automaker Toyota, has been on and off the news from quite sometime now. And this time the hue and cry is because of the launch of its luxury division known as Lexus, which is scheduled for March 2017. Previously in August, it had released the Innova Crysta which was followed by the launch of the Etios models in September. The month of November was no exception with the debut of the all new Fortuner.
As reported by us earlier, the three models from Lexus that will make their grand entries in the Indian market are – the RX450h and LX450d and the ES300h. The bookings are already functional from this moth itself and the brand will start delivering the cars from March 2017.
Cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Gurugram and Bengaluru will be welcoming the first set of Lexus showrooms, bearing the name ‘Lexus Boutique’ in India. Taj Santacruz hotel, located next to Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai will house the first ever luxury dealership of this brand.
The next batch of showrooms will be set up in Chennai, Chandigarh and Cochin and will be operational in the end of 2017. The cars will be equipped with features found in the Japanese-spec models with the exception of the navigation system.
Initial cars from the brand will come to India as CBUs(Completely Built Units), and will be directly imported from Japan and will come accompanied with a hefty pricing. There are however reports that Lexus is be planning to assemble its vehicles locally in the distant future.
