Lexus has released technical specifications of the new LC 500h, which was revealed earlier this week. The Lexus LC 500 was first revealed at the 2016 North America International Auto Show by president and CEO of Toyota Motor Corporation, Mr Akio Toyoda. The styling, performance and craftsmanship of the new LC 500 clearly position it as the flagship coupe of the Lexus lineup. Following the world premiere of the LC 500, Lexus introduces the All-New LC 500h which features the world’s first Multi Stage Hybrid System, the next generation of hybrid powertrains specifically designed for performance vehicles.
Speaking of the exterior, the LC 500h gets a glamorous appearance which is true to Lexus’ L-finesse design philosophy, which has helped to maintain the coupe’s low bonnet line and short front overhang. It measures 4,760 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width and 1,345 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,870 mm. The front fascia gets the latest interpretation of spindle grille motif features chrome trim and a radical new mesh design of varying visual tension, unique lighting independent, arrowhead Daytime Running Lights (DRL) with a triple LED headlamp unit. The rear gets sweeping cabin roofline, muscular rear wheel arches giving it a wide stable stance, L-shaped LED lamps and a standard 20 inch alloy wheels.
Inside the LC 500h, it is loaded with the next-gen touch pad for the RTI (Remote Touch Interface) and 2017 Lexus multimedia package that debuts in the LC with new software that enables future enhancements and updated graphic user interface. These are joined by Mark Levinson audio package and a new premium Pioneer audio system, offered as standard, premium materials, hand-stitched leather and Alcantara door trim. Particular attention has been paid to the design of a new steering wheel, that received a change in cross-sectional shape throughout the rim circumference to accommodate variations in grip and the twisting of the wrist during operation.
Under the hood, the new hybrid is packed with a newly developed Multi Stage Hybrid System to provide more sporting and engaging driving experience. It is powered by a combined system of a 3.5-litre V6 gasoline engine, an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery pack. The system is connected to a 4-speed automatic transmission that can develop a combined output of 354 HP and 348 Nm of peak torque. It can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in less than 5 seconds.
The brand has fitted the new LC 500h with the Lexus Safety System +, which is a newly developed active safety technology designed to help prevent collisions across a wide range of traffic situations. This feature includes Pre-Crash Safety (PCS) system with a pedestrian detection function, All-speed Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane-Keeping Assist (LKA), and Automatic High Beam (AHB) headlamp technology.
