Piaggio today launched yet another version of its Vespa high end scooter in Pune. Based on the VX platform, Elegante will be the most expensive offering from Vespa till now. The price will be revealed on the coming 20th September. The current lineup of Vespa includes, VX125, LX125 and S models. Also included are two limited editions, namely Elegante and Vespa Esclusivo, latter being launched a few weeks back.
Speaking at the event in Pune, Vespa India said 'We will continue to target at niche segment, and will not launch an affordable scooter." Elegante is more or less only a cosmetic upgrade over VX 125. The changes include classy looking split seats with a retro color combination, new hexagonal shaped chrome headlamp and an Elegante badging.
The engine is essentially the same producing 10PS power and 10.6 NM torque having 125 cc capacity and CVT transmission. Two new color combinations have been added, namely Pearl White and Merrakah Brown. Limited edition half faced helmet will also be handed out to customers, which will be color co-ordinated to the scooter.
