Maruti Suzuki Baleno has gone on sale in Australia at a starting price of AU$15,990 (Around Rs. 8.05 Lakhs). The Made-in-India hatch has been introduced in two trim levels: GL and GL Turbo. The Australia-spec model is being sourced from Maruti Suzuki's Manesar plant in India. The hatch carries an array of premium features, while mechanically being available with two petrol engines.
The Australian model measures 3995mm in length, 1745mm in width and 1470mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2520mm, while the ground clearance is 120mm. As for features, the hatch gets HID projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights (DRLs), foglamps, electrically adjustable door mirrors, leather wrapped tilt and telescopic steering wheel, 16-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, keyless entry and start system, automatic climate control and touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration compatibility.
Mechnically, the Baleno is available in only petrol guise with two engines in Australia. The GL variant is offered with a naturally-aspirated 1.4L 4-cylinder petrol engine, which is borrowed from the Ciaz mid-sized sedan. It develops a maximum power of 92bhp at 6000rpm and peak torque of 160 Nm between 1500rpm and 4000 rpm. It can be availed with a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic transmission. On the other hand, the GLX variant comes with a 1.0L turbocharged BOOSTERJET petrol engine, which belts out 110bhp of top power and 160Nm of highest torque. It is linked to a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
