Homegrown UV maker, Mahindra will officially launch the Alturas G4 SUV on November 24, 2018. Bookings for the SUV have already been commenced at a token amount of Rs 50,000, while deliveries are being promised from November 26. Moreover, the Alturas G4 will start reaching dealerships on 26 November for customer previews and test drives. Ahead of the launch, a series of images of uncamouflaged Mahindra Alturas G4 has hit the web world. The new images completely revealed the exterior and interior styling of the new 7-seater premium SUV.
The new Mahindra Alturas G4 is basically the re-badged version of the international-spec new SsangYong Rexton G4. While the overall profile is similar to the Korean sibling, Mahindra has made some tweaks to give it a family look. The only change is the addition of new grille, different alloy wheels and Mahindra badging. The company has already revealed that the new Alturas SUV will be offered in 5 exterior paint schemes - New Pearl White, Napoli Black, Lakeside Brown, Regal Blue and Dsat Silver.
The Mahindra Alturas G4 will be offered in two variants - 2WD G4 and 4WD G4. The top-spec model will be equipped with several segment-leading features. It is equipped with black and tan Nappa leather upholstery for seats, door panels, steering wheel and dashboard. Other features include colour MID, dual-barrel HID projector headlights, LED daytime running lights with integrated blinkers, ventilated front seats with electric adjustable & memory function, electric sunroof, electronic parking brake, handsfree boot opening, etc.
The SUV rides on larger 20-inch alloy wheels, which looks rather simple in design. The SUV gets a large 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Navigation and reverse camera. The SUV will also receive high-end safety and security features like ABS with EBD, nine airbags, vehicle stability control, traction control, hill assist control, etc. The SUV sits on the quad-frame body structure with 63% 1.5Gpa-grade high-strength steel.
Powering the SUV is a 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, which also powers the international-spec Rexton G4. This engine churns out a maximum power output of 180.5bhp and a peak torque of 450Nm, which makes it more powerful than its closest rival Toyota Fortuner. Power will be transmitted to the wheels via a 7-speed automatic gearbox sourced from Mercedes-Benz. Upon its launch, the Mahindra Alturas G4 will rival the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and the Isuzu MU-X.
